about Burping, Bloating, Candida, Constipation, Food Allergies, Farting,
and Poo but Were Afraid to Ask. New York, NY: Marlowe, 2005.
Get to Know Your Gut
This book is not entirely about the medical aspects of flatulence.
In fact, I couldn't find an entire book devoted to it. That's because
flatulence, while sometimes annoying or embarrassing, is not necessarily
a medical disorder, although it could be a symptom of one. Mostly it's
normal, as just about all of the books I read on the topic assured me.
Get to Know Your Gut only devotes a few pages to farting in
a chapter called "Digestion basics." It's delightfully free
of bad puns on the condition. The entire book, which is a layman's guide
to the digestive tract, is written so engagingly, that before I knew
it, I was reading sections of the book that had nothing to do with farting.
If you want to know more about your gastrointestinal system and its
effects on your health, this is the book for you.
